Observing Non-USA Swimming Competitions

According to USA Swimming rules, swims from a non-USA Swimming meet (i.e. high school event) may be observed by assigned USA Swimming or YMCA officials for conformance with USA Swimming technical rules. These (official) times then may be submitted for entry into the SWIMS database and used for entry into USA Swimming meets.

All MSHSL Section and State meets are eligible for observation. 
Two USA Swimming officials must be on-deck to do the observing.

Coach Information/Instructions ~ How to get HS times loaded into SWIMS:

Work with High School Coach to ensure that athlete's LEGAL first name, middle name, last name and Correct DOB are in the meet database. Nicknames should be entered into the Preferred Name spot in the meet database. This will ensure that times load correctly into SWIMs. MN Swimming Times Coordinator will load times from True Team State Meets (both class A and AA) as well as MSHSL Section and State Meets (both class A and AA) providing 2 USA Swimming certified officials observed the meet and reported if any violations of rule differences were observed. 

Times that do NOT get loaded into SWIMs can still be used for entry into MN Swimming meets (including championship meets) and Section 1 Sectionals providing coach has a PDF of meet results to prove the entry time.

NEW FOR 2023 - Google Form Request for Times to be Loaded 
To help ensure that MNSI athletes times are loaded into SWIMs if observed as required, Minnesota Swimming club coaches/parents/swimmers may complete Google Form Request HERE. We will help ensure that the accurate swimmer information is entered into the Meet Database which will allow MN Times Coordinator, Michael Bougie, to easily load eligible times into the SWIMs database.
(Note: since the athletes are NOT swimming for their club teams for the MSHSL Section/State meets that times are NOT loaded into Team Unify. Club teams are responsible for loading these for their athletes.)
